12 Year Old Runs 200KM for The Sparkle Foundation

From 1 September, Amèlie will take on 200 km over the course of a month, sharing her training, runs, progress and fundraising journey along the way. For a 12-year-old, it is an incredible commitment. But Amèlie knows exactly why she is doing it

I know how lucky I am to have opportunities that many children in Malawi don't have

I want to use something I love more than anything, running to help raise awareness and support The Sparkle Foundation.

Running for Something Bigger

For Amèlie, every kilometre has a purpose.

"Every kilometre I run is for children and families who deserve the chance to thrive."

She hopes her challenge will raise as much money as possible for The Sparkle Foundation, while also shining a light on the inequalities faced by people who do not have access to the same opportunities. But there is another goal behind the challenge: inspiring other young people to realise that they can make a difference too.

You are never too young to make a difference.

Amèlie is proving that impact does not always start with something huge. Sometimes, it starts with something you already love — and deciding to use it to help someone else.

Taking on Dubai, One Kilometre at a Time

Amèlie will be completing her 200 km challenge across a variety of locations in Dubai, including Kite Beach, Meydan and Mira, as well as several of the city's malls. Throughout the campaign, she will be documenting her training and progress on Instagram, giving her supporters a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to complete 200 km in one month.

Making Every Kilometre Count

Amèlie has set herself three clear goals for this year's challenge:

  • Raise as much money as possible for The Sparkle Foundation
  • Raise awareness of the challenges faced by children and families who have fewer opportunities
  • Inspire other young people to use their own passions to help others

Every donation, no matter how big or small, can help support The Sparkle Foundation's work providing education, healthcare, nutrition and opportunities for children and families in Malawi.

And every kilometre Amèlie runs will help carry that message further.

Support Amèlie's 200 KM Challenge

We are incredibly grateful to Amèlie for choosing to run for Sparkle again this year, and we cannot wait to follow her journey from the first kilometre to the final one.
