Senior Content Creator

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Senior Content Creator will be the creative driving force behind The Sparkle Foundation's visual storytelling, with a particular focus on video and photography. Based in Malawi, the content creator will capture the day to day reality of the The Sparkle Foundation's education, nutrition, healthcare and community empowerment programmes, and turn these moments into compelling video, photography and written content for global supporters, donors, and partners.
This is a hands on, output focused role for an experienced content creator who can work independently, think creatively, and consistently deliver high quality content with minimal oversight.
Key responsibilities
1. Video and photography production
- Plan, film and direct video content across programme visits, events, campaigns and supporter stories.
- Capture high quality photography to support fundraising, marketing and reporting needs.
- Edit raw footage into polished, on-brand video content for social media, campaigns and supporter communications, using industry standard software. The Sparkle Foundation currently has access to Adobe Premiere Pro and CapCut.
- Edit and retouch photography using tools such as Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop.
2. Content Development
- Write scripts, captions and storylines that bring The Sparkle Foundation's work to life for different audiences.
- Generate original content ideas and concepts independently, without requiring detailed briefs for every piece.
- Adapt content formats to suit different platforms, including social media, website, email and print.
3. Field Work
- Travel regularly with the team to programme sites across Malawi to capture authentic, first-hand content.
- Build relationships with beneficiaries, staff and partners to identify and capture genuine stories of impact.
4. Content management and collaboration
- Organise, label and maintain a clear, well structured content library on Dropbox that is updated on a daily basis.
- Work closely with the Marketing Coorindator and Graphic Designer to align content with campaign priorities.
- Coordinate with visiting consultants and volunteers where relevant, supporting a consistent standard of output.
- Support other teams, including fundraising and HR, with specific content requests such as supporter thank you videos or case studies (streamlined through the Marketing Coordinator).
5. Brand and Trends
- Ensure all content reflects The Sparkle Foundation's tone of voice, visual identity and mission.
- Stay on top of social media and content trends, proactively suggesting new formats and approaches to keep content fresh and engaging
Person specification
Essential
- Proven experience as a videographer or content creator, in an agency, in-house marketing team, or as an established freelancer. Short-form and long-from content.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating video production, filming and editing skills and active on social media.
- Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut or similar).
- Solid photography skills, with experience in photo editing tools.
- Confident scriptwriting and storytelling ability.
- Able to work independently, manage own workload, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong organisational skills, particularly around digital asset and content management.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to programme sites across Malawi (transportation provided by The Sparkle Foundation)
- Great working knowledge of social media platforms and current content trends.
Desirable
- Experience creating content in the charity or nonprofit sector.
- Experience producing content for international or multi-market audiences.
- Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or Figma).
- Drone photography or videography experience.
